The Bite Report
The swamp is alive, and yes, parts of it want to eat you. But it’s not a year-round plague.
| Month | Mosquito Activity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Jan - Feb | 🟢 None | Too cold for them. Enjoy the peace. |
| March | 🟡 Low | Starting to wake up if it’s a warm spring. |
| April - May | 🟠Moderate | They are active, especially at dusk. |
| June - Sept | 🔴 High | Jungle rules correctly apply. Bring spray. |
| Oct - Nov | 🟠Moderate | Tapering off with the first fronts. |
| December | 🟢 Low | mostly gone. |
Defense Strategy
- Wind is your friend: Airboats are fast enough (35mph+) that bugs can’t land on you while moving. Pontoons are slower, so you are more exposed.
- Cover up: Light-weight, long sleeves are better than a gallon of DEET.
- Time of Day: Dawn and Dusk are feeding frenzies. Mid-day tours have fewer bugs.
